What does the word “landmark” mean to you? Let us know!

You’re invited to submit digital images of your favorite Long Island places for possible inclusion in an upcoming SPLIA Gallery show featuring paintings, illustrations and photos.

Instagram the Long Island places you love using #MyLongIslandLandmarks or submit your 300dpi JPG to


  • Please include a title and a statement on what the word “landmark” means to you: Why do you consider your submission to be a Long Island landmark – What makes it important?
  • For two-dimensional art work (paintings, drawings, illustrations) – please include type of media and exact dimensions. For instance, even if you submit a photo of your work on Instagram using the #MyLongIslandLandmarks hashtag – please be sure to include the exact dimensions of the piece.
  • For email submissions, include contact information: name, address and phone number.
  • All submissions must be received by March 11, 2016

The exhibit, curated by Franklin Hill Perrell, will involve a jury of well-known photographers, artists and museum professionals who will decide which works to display at the gallery. Additionally, strong submissions not included in the live show will be featured in an on-site video loop as well as online. Selected participants will be contacted with further information.
