Insect and Spider Scavenger Hunt
Saturday, July 16 – 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
Sherwood-Jayne Farm, Setauket
Take a journey into the world of insects and spiders. The program will begin with a short introduction on local insects and spiders, followed by exploration hike to find and observe specimens.

Dusk Hike
Saturday July 30 – 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Sherwood-Jayne Farm, Setauket
Join Seatuck for a hike along the trails as the sun sets for the night. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for the many nocturnal animals that are particularly active this time of day. Bring the whole family for this quiet and relaxing evening exploration.


Nature Hike

Join Seatuck for a hike along the trails. We’ll explore the mid-summer woods and discuss the seasonal changes that have already started.


Flowers and Seeds of Summer

Saturday August 20 – 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Sherwood Jayne Farm, East Setauket
Why are flowers so special? We’ll take a close-up look at some and find out why they are designed the way they are and how they form seeds. We’ll have some fun with flowers and take a walk to find and identify some favorites.

SPLIA Annual Apple Fest
Sunday, September 25 – 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Sherwood Jayne Farm, East Setauket
The whole family will enjoy a host of activities including old-fashioned games like apple relay races, tug-o-war, and apple-head doll making. The festival features pony rides and an open-hearth colonial cooking demonstration, an Apple Pie Baking Contest and tours of the historic Sherwood-Jayne House. Seatuck will be leading hikes at noon and 2:00 p.m.
