As regional advocate for historic preservation on Long Island since 1948, SPLIA has been advancing important preservation issues, protecting historic structures, and assisting local initiatives through a variety of activities. This includes technical and advisory services, appearances at public hearings, special programs and reports, workshops, our Preservation Notes newsletter, and stewarding properties restricted by preservation covenants. By working independently and in support of individuals and groups committed to the preservation of cultural resources, SPLIA cultivates greater understanding and appreciation of a shared legacy and seeks to make a future for Long Island’s past.
